A Note from a faithful member of GWAS
In case you didn't receive one, our last membership-drive letter started off by recognizing how many such letters we all receive and acknowledging the guilt we sometimes feel when we can't support each of them.
GWAS is fortunate to have many long-time members. Here is a letter we received from one of our supporters:
"Hi there,
Loved your truthful words about the number of requests we all get for funds (each one triggering feelings of guilt). We all have to be selective don't we? As a member from your early beginnings, I have always been impressed with what you have accomplished and are accomplishing.
Being a supporting member of the GWAS is the only way that I can participate....
Sometimes good results simply have to wait for the right time and people to accomplish them.

Annual General Meeting
WildLife And The Gorge
Dorothy Chambers was our very passionate speaker on Wednesday, November 25, 2012 for our 23rd Annual General Meeting. Thanks Dorothy for giving of your time, not only to count the fish, but to educate us about the drastic impact of the carelessness that can be so very damaging.
She talked to us about:
her involvement with the Fish Counting Fence on the Colquitz Creek in Cuthbert Holmes Park
the beaver that has constructed a dam upstream from the fence
the great horned owl that has lived nearby for more than a decade
but most heart-breakingly, about the oil spills that have plauged this area more and more frequently in the last few years.
To contact her for more details - drop a line to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - or for more info on her activities and those of her colleagues on the fish fence you can search for her in your favourite browser.

Canada Day dawned sunny and breezy. A poster board of the Certificates awarded to the Youth and Children Division Winners was displayed.
Another poster had been made up to showcase a dozen or so of the short listed adult entries and the idea was born to have a "people''s choice" winner based on the poster. This generated tremendous interest and 150 people voted.
The winner was Geoff Godfrey with Bill Stavdal a close second
The winning photos in all categories are now displayed on this website - Select the Gallery option at the top of the Home Page
